This is a self portrait I have created using charcoal for my Drawing I final critique. The assignment was to draw a self portrait and include a social justice theme. The theme I chose was mental health. The sailboat is a tattoo that I have on my wrist that means "A smooth sea never made a skilled sailor." In the background I have a storm cloud to represent the darkness of depression and to also emphasize the storm that creates rough seas, to tie the whole theme and drawing together.
